A practical bass course in note choice and harmonic recognition

Coming soon

Harmonic Elements is how I teach harmony on the bass: a small set of chord movements that turn up in song after song, learned by ear and under the hands. I’m building it into something you can use here.

There will be two parts. The Guide takes one element at a time: what the chords are, what to listen for, and a loop to play along with. The Dojo is an ear trainer: a loop of chords and drums plays, with no bass, until you’ve found home and named what you’re hearing.

It isn’t open yet. The loops are still being recorded.

There’s more in the Shed

The metronome, the drone and the tuner are free for anyone to use. They come from the Shed, the practice space in the member portal that everyone who has sessions with me gets. In there they sit alongside a practice diary, a habit tracker, a tempo tracker, a recorder and a shelf of backing tracks, and it all works as an app on your phone.
